SOUTH/CENTRAL BANDS “PLAY-OFF” COMPETITION



It’s that time again for Trinidad & Tobago’s culture showcase – CARNIVAL 2010. Sweet Steel Pan music opened the season with the South/Central Bands “Play-off” competition. The South/Central Bands convened in front of WACK 90.1 FM Station on Coffee Street, San Fernando on Monday, 18th January 2010.

South/Central Bands "Play-off" Competition results:
1.  Shades in Steel with 263 points
2.  Fyzabad 4th Dimension with 250 points
3.  Highlighters with 235 points
4.  Pan Revival with 226 points. 

The nine bands that participated in the “Play-off” competition in order of appearance were:
  • Self Help Marines from Point Fortin performed "Smooth Sailing" by Defosto
  • New Age Trendsetters from Chaguanas performed "Margie" by Kitchener
  • La Romaine Super Vibes from La Romaine performed "Fiery (Bunji remix)" by Maestro
  • Fyzabad 4th Dimension from Fyzabad performed "Smooth Sailing" by Defosto
  • Shades in Steel from Vistabella performed "Ah Tell She" by Poser
  • Rio Claro Koskeros from Rio Claro performed "Smooth Sailing" by Defosto
  • Pan Revival from Chaguanas performed "Gimme More " by Crazy
  • Highlighters from Gasparillo performed "Magic Drum" by Len Boogsie Sharp / Machel Montano
  • Jah Roots from Point Fortin performed "Wine On Something" by Super Blue 
Congratulations to Jah Roots who reminded us of the essence of small band competition with their presentation of the original "Pan Round De Neck".  Pan, Sweet Pan!!!
